Blakkur frá Þykkvabæ breeds very tall horses. Their head is with fine ears, big eyes and ravens nose, the neck is well raised and the shoulders are sloping and well separated. The backline is excellent, strong and well balanced and the croup is muscled. They have very good leg length and an up-hill balance in the body. The legs are rather thin and often lacking better separation of the tendons but the correctness of the legs is usually rather good. The hooves have concave sole and good material. Blakkurs offpsring are both four- and five gaited. They are up-hill with high and light movements in both tölt and trot but sometimes lacking in speed capacity. They have good stridelength in gallop and very good balance and movements at low speed in both tölt and canter, the walk is often with rather short strides. Blakkur breeds cooperative and light-footed horses with high movements and he receives first price for offspring.
